Course 4: How to Utilize the uTest Proxy

Learn how to utilize the uTest Proxy.

How to Utilize the uTest Proxy

Applause currently offers two proxy servers to enable secure access to web applications, as needed. Reach out to your SDM or Applause management team before proceeding with proxy setup.

Proxy Details

There is a proxy server for the US and one for the EU. Whitelist the correct IP address for your region:

  • US Proxy IP -

  • EU Proxy IP -

What the Applause Proxy Servers Do Not Support
  • HTTP 2.0

  • Websockets

  • Any network traffic that is not HTTP or HTTPS

  • Setups that require non-trivial domain name resolution (DNS)

Proxy Auto-Configuration

In simple terms, Proxy Auto Configuration (PAC) is a method to configure a web browser or mobile device to use a proxy server with as minimal configuration on the user’s part as possible. Most browsers support proxy auto-configuration (PAC) by simply pointing to a URL in your proxy settings.

For your convenience, we provide proxy auto-configuration scripts for the uTest proxies in the US and EU.

Best Practices with uTest Proxy
  • Android and iOS apps sometimes ignore HTTP proxies. Therefore, we do not recommend using an HTTP proxy for testing on installed mobile applications. The proxies are appropriate for mobile browser testing

  • You may have to configure your firewall or security settings in order for the proxy server to allow access for the testers. See this
