Once executed, you will want to review the test case results. You can view test cases in two places: Test Cycle and Test Case.

Viewing Test Case Results from a Test Cycle

View the test case results as collected by the testers in a single, specific test cycle (over a single, specific build).

Viewing Test Case Results Globally

View the test case results as collected by the testers across multiple test cycles (over multiple builds). This may be done for one or more test cases and suites.

 

Viewing Test Case Results from a Test Cycle

You can view test case results within a test cycle:

1. Select a product
2. Navigate to Test Cycles from the left navigation bar and click on the test cycle name.
3. Within the test cycle page, click “Test Case Results”.
4. Click the “Test Case Result ID” to view the complete test case result where you can view the complete information on each test case step, as well as triage the reported result.
5. You may also apply actions on multiple test case results at once by selecting them from the grid and selecting an action from the Actions dropdown menu above the test cases list.

Notes:

• The Test Case Results tab will only be available if the test cycle was set with test cases.

Test Case Result Details

There are two available actions in the Test Case Result page on the result: Mark as Valuable and Mark as Unsatisfactory.

Below that the Test Case Result page contains 4 tabs: Result, Test Case Instructions, Activity and History.

 

Result

The Result tab contains the test case execution result, including the Pass, Fail, Blocked or Done status, meta information on the execution (claimed and submitted dates, status, build, environment and the slot description), test case steps and their pass/fail/done statuses with attachments.

 

How the Final Test Case Result is Determined

The final result of test case execution works the following way:

• If a single step is Failed, the test case result will be Failed.
• Else, if a single step is Blocked, the test case result will be Blocked.
• Else, if all the steps are only Done, the test cases result will be Done.
• Else, if some steps are Done and the others are Passed, the test case result will be Passed.

 

Test Case Instructions

The Test Case Instructions tab contains the text version of the test case in a table for reference.

 

Activity

In the Activity tab the history of all the status changes in the test case result are displayed.

 

History

The History tab contains all the execution results of the test case across all test cycles.

 

Viewing Test Case Results Globally

You can also view test case results in the global test cases page, i.e. in the Test Case Management tab.

To View Test Case Results Within a Test Case:

1. Select the desired product from the product picker.
2. Browse to the Test Case Management tab.
3. Open the desired test case.
4. Open the Results History tab. The Related History tab will list test results across all test cycles for the test case.

 

Organizing Test Case Results by Folder and Test Case

You can view the test case results from a test cycle organized by test suites and folders, so that when looking at a test case result, you know where they came from and also identify the failed test cases from a specific folder (typically test cases are constructed with a specific folder representing a specific function).

So test case results can be organized by folder (including test suites) and by test case.

Organizing Test Case Results by Folder

The test case results will be grouped by folders as you have set up the test cases in the test cases list.

• If a test case is under multiple folders and also belongs to a test suite, then the test case results will be displayed starting with the test suite and showing the test case results from the top level folder and then results from the subfolders.
• If there is no folder structure in a test suite, then the folders are not shown and similarly for test suites.
  
  • In that case all the test cases which are not part of a test suite will be shown at the end as a separate suite named “Not in a suite”.

Organizing Test Case Results by Test Case

All the test case results will be listed under each test case.

A test case can be part of more than one test suite. In that case the test case result is shown under two different test suites - once in each test suite.

• If a test case is in more than one test suite and if the user selects a test case result for that test case, then the test case result will be selected in all the test suites.
