Once the Applause - TestRail integration is successfully established, you can start transferring test cases.

You can import test cases from a TestRail project into the Applause platform for any specific product.

Note: Text formatting of test case fields is supported in the Applause platform, so that any field in markdown format will maintain its format when imported into the Applause platform from TestRail.

1. Open the Applause platform and select the desired Product linked with a TestRail project.
2. Click on the Test Case Management link from the left navigation.
3. Navigate to the “All Test Cases” tab and click “Import”.
4. Select “Import from TestRail”.
5. Scroll down to the “Create New Applause Test Cases” section.
6. Select a specific Test Suite in TestRail in the TestRail Test Suite dropdown field, or you can choose All Test Suites if you need to import test cases across all the Test Suites.
7. Also, if you need to import test cases from a specific section of the Test Suite, select one or more sections in the Filter By TestRail Section dropdown.
8. Finally, click “Import Test Cases” and confirm the selection to import the test cases.

 

In case you made any changes to the test cases inside TestRail, you may also want to update them inside the Applause platform if they are imported previously.

1. Open Test Case Management -> “All Test Cases” tab.
2. Click “Import” and select “Import from TestRail”.
3. Under “Update Existing Applause Test Cases” you’ll find the test cases you imported from TestRail.
4. Select a Test Suite and its subsections at the top if necessary, as mentioned in the previous section.
5. Select the test cases you want to update.
6. Click “Import Test Case” and confirm your selection to update the test cases in the Applause platform.

Note: The new updates won’t be reflected in the test cycles which are already active.

 

If you deleted test cases in TestRail, which are imported to the Applause, then you may want to archive those test cases in the Applause platform too.

1. Open the “Test Suites & Cases” page and navigate to “All Test Cases” tab.
2. Click “Import” and select “Import from TestRail”.
3. Under “Applause Test Cases that were deleted in TestRail” you’ll find the test cases you imported from TestRail but they are now deleted inside TestRail.
4. Select the test cases.
5. Click “Import Test Case” and confirm your selection to archive the test cases in the Applause platform.
